ADEEL AHMED -TASTE BUD
“With delectable recipes coming down
generation-from-generation in my family, it seemed only
logical that I embark on a venture with this strength” ---Adeel
Ahmed
Adeel Ahmed was geared to succeed with a Masters in
marketing in hand from Preston University and a dream to
pursue his passion of the culinary arts. He received more
than 3 years of work experience in his first job with ANZ
Grindlays Bank and later in Reckitt Benckiser as Area
Sales Manager.
Adeel was now equipped with the experience and vision to
embark on his culinary venture, to tantalize the taste
buds of Karachites. The vision was to start with a low
budget operation focused on home and office delivery where
the food boasted impeccable quality and wholesome
quantity. Adeel contacted SMEDA, Karachi and from there
received the Tameer Essential Business Kit to guide him
towards his entrepreneurial venture.
Taste Bud was launched on the 25th of July 2004. Adeel soon realized that being self-employed and working
for someone are two entirely different ball games where
being self-employed requires alot of hard work, a
limitless amount of stress and hefty amounts of finance
from ones own pocket.
The level of uncertainty almost hit its mark on his
motivation level and required a lot of strength and
courage on his part to keep his wits about him and still
persist. Encouragement and moral support from his family
gave him the confidence to persevere.
There are various factors contributing to the success of
Taste Bud, one of the most important being the quality of
food available, the wholesome quantity in contrast to the
prices and the quality publications such as the menu card.
There are a variety of cuisines available that range over
the delicacies of the world from traditional Nihari to
cheesy pastas to tantalizing Lebanese food.
In the
future he hopes to change the current location of the
outlet to a more prime location to cater to a wider range
of customers and eventually encompass take away services
and dining-in into the outlet. Adeel would like to then
open more outlets in Lahore and Islamabad
